Per the New York Daily News:
“According to a team source, the Knicks intend to make a run at reacquiring Thomas this summer, or whenever the expected NBA lockout ends. The veteran power forward is a free agent who spent last season with the Chicago Bulls and has made it clear that he wants to play at least one more season.”
With the Knicks lack of frontcourt depth, I have been a big fan of bringing back Kurt for a while now. He knows how to win in New York, and he is willing to do everything his team needs from him. Rebound, play defense, use fouls and provide the occasional reminder of how wet he was from mid-range.
Being the oldest player in the NBA, don’t expect more than 15 minutes per night from Thomas, but his time in the locker room is what would be invaluable to a team still new to winning. He could also be a perfect mentor for Jorts in the Big Apple.
The Knicks need cheap veteran contracts, while putting out an experienced team that can compete come playoffs. When free agency begins, Kurt and Grant Hill are my top priorities.
Also, I just want to make a quick shout out congratulating GWarno on getting engaged last night. Good times are ahead.
